First Clan Reunion

A family reunion is traditionally an occasion when the family and relatives come together and enjoy the company of one another. This joyous event promises acquaintance of the younger generation and the old folks reliving cherished memories. The ROCAMORA clan decided to have the 1st Family Reunion at Crisly Beach Resort, Liloan, Cebu which was the perfect place to be since Rocamoras in the Philippines originated in Cebu. The host of the 1st ever reunion was no other than Engr. Cresencio “Tio Chris” Rocamora.

On the first day, the host family welcomed the relatives and was ushered to the registration table to have their names listed on the family tree and were given their tee shirts and name tags. It was followed by the Thanksgiving Mass and also to entrust the success of whole reunion to our Heavenly Father. Then the sumptuous buffet followed for our lunch.

The proper program however, started in the afternoon. It was hosted by the energetic Boy Ramsey. The program consisted of reading the History of our Forefather Don Clodualdo (Spanish Descent) who came to the Philippines. Afterwards, each family was called to introduce themselves and their whereabouts. We were all astonished to know the places of where the Rocamora families came just to attend the reunion. Some still came from U.S., Manila, Palawan, Cagayan de Oro, Bohol, Iligan, and so on. In the evening, a very nice surprise was prepared by the host family. They have invited stand up comedians who brought so much laughter to the family & relatives. There were also gifts given to the “lucky” names that were drawn by the emcee (based on registered names only) and then the evening stretched to the favorite past time of the Cebuanos which was the videoki time. Additional highlight of the evening was the arrival of the infamous Mr. Joel Rocamora from Manila.

The 2nd day was full of fun because of the games prepared by Joy Rocamora-Baynosa. Even grown-ups were asked to join in the game. Winners of the game claimed their prizes happily. There were also special numbers presented to enliven the hot morning sun. In the afternoon as the reunion near to its ending, the relatives quickly exchange emails and mobile numbers while others took pictures as a remembrance. At that moment, everyone was asked to gather in the open hall to end the reunion with prayer & thanksgiving. Col. Rodolfo Rocamora was asked to give a short message (thru the Word of God) and blessed our hearts knowing that God has brought the Rocamoras into this era and still flourishing. Everyone was asked to hold hands as we sang “Give Thanks” as a farewell song.

Indeed, it was a memorable event for all of us. ‘Til we see each other again. God speed!
